About this role

We have a number of roles available for operatives varying in experience levels and qualifications including Skilled Worker, Machine Operator and Site Supervisor. At Platinum we are always looking for reliable, hard working operatives who take pride in their work and show a willingness to learn. Experienced, multiskilled operatives are preferred but candidates that show initiative and potential to progress have a great opportunity to succeed here.

Qualifications and Skills

Skilled Worker

  • Valid CSCS affiliated card with CSCS hologram (such as CSCS, NPORS, CPCS, GQA)
  • Civils and groundworks experience working on projects showcasing a variety of works
  • Able to perform a variety of construction activities relating to concreting, landscaping, laying kerbs, brick & blockwork, install drainage and ducting
  • Health & safety conscious and a proactive attitude to site tidiness
  • Streetworks card including underground utilities avoidance (preferred)
  • Tickets such as confined spaces, manual handling, abrasive wheels, signaller, WIAPS and first aid are favourable
  • Ensure PPE is worn at all times and relevant site documents and registers are understood and signed

  • Driver's Licence (preferred)

Machine Operator

Everything included in the 'Skilled Worker' qualifications as well as:
  • Valid tickets and experience for operating machines such as 360 excavator, dumper, roller, dozer and telehandler. These must be officially recognised by CPCS or NPORS
  • Great awareness to notice potential dangers and take precautions to avoid accidents
  • Ensuring that H&S procedures are followed such as a banksman, barriers, cones and lights are used when applicable

Site Supervisor

Everything included in the 'Skilled Worker' qualifications as well as:
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate
  • Understanding of health & safety law and how it can be applied
  • Monitoring site activities, ensuring site documentation such as inductions, toolbox talks, RAMS, plant checks and daily briefs are completed and signed
  • Complete site documentation such as daily briefs, daily dairies, time sheets, site instructions, permits, requisistions and concrete sign off to a high standard
  • Interpret and mark-up site drawings accurately
  • Follow the programme of works and plan work effectively to complete within the timeframe
  • Attend site meetings and communicate constructively with clients and management staff to ensure works progress smoothly
  • Organise and manage deliveries and storage of materials and plant on site
